Chilling Kim Kardashian robbery video surfaces

Chilling video has surfaced from the night Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris, showing her alleged attackers approaching her private hotel on bicycles and on foot.

France's M6 news channel, followed by TMZ, published the video Thursday, which shows five people, three on bicycles and two on foot, approaching Kim's apartment in the Hotel de Pourtales at 2:19 a.m. on October 3.

According to the time code on the CCTV footage, the suspects fled the apartment roughly 49 minutes later. A bag can be seen on the front of one bicycle.

Kardashian told police she was tied up, threatened with a gun and robbed of millions of dollars worth of jewelry by armed and masked assailants.

Police said the thieves were let into the 19th-century luxury residence by the concierge, who was handcuffed and issued orders at gunpoint. The robbers stole a jewelry box containing valuables worth nearly $7 million as well as a ring worth $4.5 million, which Kardashian had flaunted on Instagram.

The incident left the reality-TV star "badly shaken but physically unharmed," according to a family statement.

The investigation is being led by the French police's Brigade de Repression du Banditisme (BRB). The BRB is investigating the so-called "Pink Panthers", considered the largest, most successful ring of jewel thieves in the world, according to a 2014 report on CBS's 60 Minutes, which credited the gang with more than 370 heists worth $500 million.

The Pink Panthers are a network of loosely organized teams of robbers throughout Europe and made up mostly of former Yugoslavian soldiers who fought in the Bosnian war of the 1990s, the 60 Minutes report said. The gang is known for its speed, minimal violence and careful planning, including methodically casing targets and gaining entry through a ruse (such as dressing as police officers).

Since the robbery, Kardashian has retreated to her home in Los Angeles with her children and has been caught only twice by paparazzi with a hooded sweatshirt covering her face.

Sister Khloé told Ellen DeGeneres Kim is "not doing that well."

"It's incredibly traumatic, what happened to her," she said, calling the armed robbery "a wake-up call to make a lot of life adjustments."

Indeed, the reality star has completely disappeared on all her social media platforms. She is "taking some much needed time off," according to a handwritten note posted on her paid app Monday by an assistant.
