College tells trans students to pick dorm

Florida Gulf Coast University now allows transgender students to pick student housing based on the gender they identify with.

(WBBH) --  Florida Gulf Coast University is allowing transgender students to live in the dorms corresponding to the gender they identify with.

It's a move students are calling progressive and inclusive, and one the university said is just part of their job.

FGCU senior Courtney Greco said they are relieved. Greco was born male but identifies as genderqueer.

"I think it's important and it sends a message from the administration to the students that you're welcome here, and we'll be flexible and be accommodating to everyone's needs," Greco said.
