Deputies rescue kitten trapped in utility pole

UNION COUNTY, N.C. – Quick work by emergency crews in Union County led to the rescue of a kitten that was trapped inside a utility pole Thursday.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call of a trapped animal near M & J Electric in Indian Trail Thursday. Members of the Hemby Bridge Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The 7-week-old kitten, named “Electra” by the electric company workers, was freed and examined by a veterinarian tech. Officials said Electra will be available for adoption at the Union County Animal Shelter Friday.
