CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- We all know it- there’s never enough time to get everything done during the holidays. Many of us want to give back to our communities, but how? With Who? Now a hashtag is here to help.
#GivingTuesdayCLT is a simple idea- give a little bit to a good cause after Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
This year SHARE Charlotte kicks off its 3rd annual #GivingTuesdayCLT campaign with the support of more than 170 nonprofits. Their goal is to raise $8 million dollars.
"I think what’s so great about Giving Tuesday is that it really allows people to get away from the commercial aspect of the holidays," said Liz Wine with Girls on the Run. "Girls on the Run specifically allows you to give back to local girls here in the Charlotte community so you can feel as though your dollars are having a direct impact here."
"I think people are socially minded, but they don't know what so I think SHARE Charlotte is a great resource for them. If you like community events or things that are family friendly- 24 Hours of Booty would be a great fit for you." said Heather Sackett, with 24 Hours of Booty.
“#GivingTuesdayCLT is a rare moment when everyone in our city can come together in the name of good.”
Says SHARE Charlotte Director Kelly Brooks. “It carries an especially positive energy that unites us as a community.”
A celebration for the public and the nonprofits will take place at The Unknown Brewing Company in Charlotte’s SouthEnd neighborhood Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
