CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Joe Bello is the proud owner of Mr. Cone Ice Cream, a family run ice cream truck that’s been in business in Mocksville since 1989.
Usually dishing up swirling soft-serve at festivals and birthday parties, these days the usually yellow Mr. Cone truck looks a bit different.
There is a big green wrap around the truck with the giant words “FREE POPS!” emblazoned on the side. Along with it, a message announcing the opening of Whole Foods Market in South Park on August 29.
To celebrate the much anticipated opening, Mr. Cone will be transformed for three days into a Whole Foods truck, to drive around the Charlotte area and pass out 8,000 all-natural Whole Foods brand frozen ice pops.
Starting Friday, August 24, those interested can check out @WFMCharlotte on Twitter, or on Facebook for locations, and suggest their own locations for the truck to stop.
