Greetings and Happy Wednesday!
How much do prescription glasses cost you? While I get vision coverage through work now, I’ve worked places where vision coverage was extra and I couldn’t afford it. Paying for glasses out of pocket cost me several hundred dollars, without any special lenses.
When I found out Coastal Contacts is giving away 10,000 free pairs of prescription glasses today, I knew this would be something everyone should know about.
There really is no catch -- I’ve featured them before. You just have to pay shipping and handling which is between $10 and $15 per pair. One per household, and any upgrades will cost more. However, even if you end up paying $30 for a pair, I think it’s a good value, compared to $100+.
Here’s how today’s offer works, straight from the company:
“Our vision (pardon the pun) is to make eyeglasses affordable for everyone and in turn change the way that Americans buy eyeglasses. We provide an affordable and convenient option in an industry that has charged Americans large mark ups to cover expensive office and retail overheads for too long. Our online model allows us to pass on savings to our customers and we sell thousands of different styles of eyeglasses at prices up to 70% lower than those on sale at traditional brick and mortar eyeglasses retail stores.
Shipping and handling costs will be applied to your order. Typically, this will be about $10-15.
What are the Terms and Conditions?
Residents of The United States only. Promotion starts at 12 p.m. (Noon) EDT on April 13th, 2011. Free glasses include the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses. Maximum 10,000 frames available to be redeemed. All upgrades including coatings, progressives, bifocals, tints, and high index lenses are not included with this offer. Shipping and handling applies. Some frames may not be eligible. Limit 1 per household. Previous free glasses recipients excluded. CoastalContacts.com reserves the right to cancel orders. Please note: Multiple orders made from the same computer and household will be cancelled.”
Meanwhile, Garnier Fructis, the hair care company is giving away samples of their new Pure Clean shampoo. Check out their Facebook link here. Just “like” the company, and look on the left hand side of the page for the “pure clean” link. You’ll scroll down and see the free sample button. This site loads best on Internet Explorer, or any computer with flash.
I also found a very random freebie from a restaurant called Cosmo’s Cucina in Kalamazoo, Michigan. At their site, there is a free offer for a stainless steel measuring spoons set from kitchen supply company OXO. You just fill out a short form and wait for your spoons to arrive in about 4-to-6 weeks. *Note* I called the restaurant just to make sure the offer was still valid. The person I spoke with wasn’t sure… so redeem at your own risk!
Lastly, a free jelly sports watch bracelet-thingy from Budget Gadgets, celebrating their 1000+ Facebook followers! The website Budget Gadgets is offering 3,000 people with the special coupon code (listed at the site) for a jelly wrist watch bracelet. Free shipping is included. If you don’t get it in time, don’t worry, the site promises to have freebies like this frequently.
Time for me to run—lots to work on before the 4 p.m. show - including details on the Cowfish Restaurant’s new menu item named the Neon Dion! Part of the proceeds will go to Loaves and Fishes! More on this soon… see you on TV!
