CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Katie Tebbit is a shopper. "Much to my husband’s chagrin, yes" she said.
She moved to Charlotte from Durham, and has loved discovering the city's shops -- like Boulevard at South End.
"I think I've really begun to appreciate, because this is now our community," Tebbit expressed.
That’s the idea behind Small Business Saturday-- a movement started three years ago to help give local shops a boost.
"It’s people that want to help small business; people have a heart for helping small businesses," said Carmen Ellis, the owner of the small boutique, Boulevard at South End.
The Blank Canvas is only open a month; they're hanging their hat on hopes of a big weekend.
Owner Harold Jordan said, "A lot of people shop here don’t like the mall at all cause of the hassle. They come here for the customer service."
