CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Whole Foods is issuing a recall, but it doesn't affect any stores in the southeast part of the country.

They're pulling varieties of smoked salmon because of the threat of Listeria.  The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says a sample tested positive for the bacteria.

The product was sold in a dozen states. No stores in the Charlotte area are affected, the company said late Thursday morning, and no illnesses have been reported.

"Although healthy individuals may suffer short term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women," the company said.
