1 arrested, 2 wanted in University home break-in

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say a teen admitted involvement in a breaking and entering in which the victim was assaulted.

Late Thursday afternoon, officers were called to the 1400 block of Thomas Combs Drive in the University City Division on reports of a breaking and entering.

The victim told officers three black males broke in, assaulted him and stole property. The victim said two of the suspects fled in a black four-door car, while the third fled on foot.

Officers located 19-year-old Devarius Byrd nearby at the intersection of University City Boulevard and Mallard Creek Church Road. Detectives interviewed Byrd and say he admitted he entered the victim's home and stole items. Police charged him with felony breaking and entering.
