SHELBY, N.C. -- One man was shot to death and a second suffered a gunshot wound during a fight between four men outside a home in Shelby Thursday night.
Police were called to 809 McGowen Road Thursday night and arrived to find homeowner John Albert Cummings, 54, dead and a second victim, Ronnie Lee Pearson of Mooresboro, injured from a gunshot to the abdomen.
Pearson and 49-year-old Sherman Timothy Lee of Shelby were involved in an altercation at the home, police said. During the fight police say Lee shot at both Pearson and Cummings. David Williams, 49, of Shelby was also involved in the fight.
Pearson, 54, is expected to survive and is getting treated at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Lee was charged with murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill. Williams, meanwhile, is also charged with murder.
Both men are being held at the Cleveland County Detention Center without bond.
