ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. -- A traffic stop led authorities to a residence with numerous stolen goods and a quantity of methamphetamine, the Alexander County Sheriff says.
On Friday, deputies pulled over Ernest Ames, who they say was driving a motorcycle that had been reported stolen in Hickory the night before.
Information gathered during the traffic stop led officials to Ames' residence in the 100 block of Tracy Bolick Lane. Once at the home, authorities say they spotted several items also reported stolen outside the residence, including a scooter and a trailer.
This prompted the Sheriff's Office to obtain a search warrant. The subsequent search of the residence turned up even more stolen items and an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine, officials say.
Erica Ames was inside the residence of the time of the search, and was arrested along with Ernest.
Ernest is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, and one count each of felony larceny and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Erica is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say a third party was linked to the stolen property: Michael Brian Sherrod. Sherrod is sought on the charge of felony larceny.
