LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- Two people were arrested Thursday morning following a chase in a stolen vehicle.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was notified around 4 a.m. by the Hickory Police Department to be on the lookout for a vehicle that was chased to the county line. Hickory Police also advised that the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen.
Deputies found the vehicle wrecked in a field off Lewis Road in the western part of the county. All of the suspects had fled the scene, officials say.
Just before 9 a.m., a resident in the 1600 block of Daniels Road called the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office to report three people sitting on their home's front porch. Deputies took all three people into custody and transported them to the Sheriff's Office for questioning. Two other suspects were located on the steps of a nearby church, officials say.
Of the five suspects taken into custody, one was arrested on a probation violation by the Sheriff's Office, another for a probation violation by the Hickory Police Department, and the remaining three were released without charges.
Larry Wayne Nance is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. The name of the second suspect arrested Thursday has not yet been released.
The Hickory Police Department is investigating.
