CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Over the weekend, an Alcoholic Beverage Commission officer worked undercover at five establishments within Mecklenburg County.
The goal of the SIPS Operation, or Sell to Intoxicated Persons, is to observe alcohol servers to ensure adult beverages were not served to patrons who were known to be intoxicated.
North Carolina law states it's unlawful to knowingly serve or sell alcohol to any person who is already intoxicated.
As a result of the operation, two people are facing charges, and two local establishments will have a violation filed against them by the Mecklenburg County ABC Law Enforcement Division.
The two businesses found to have violated the law during the SIPS operation are Board Walk Billy's in the 9000 block of JM Keynes Drive and Moosehead Grill on Montford Drive.
