HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- Beaufort County sheriff's deputies have filed murder charges against two men in the shooting death of an 8-year-old boy last weekend.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reported (http://bit.ly/Ospzmr ) that 37-year-old Tyrone Robinson and 19-year-old Aaron Scott Young Jr. have been charged with murder in the shooting death.
Deputies say Khalil Singleton was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle on Saturday.
Young Jr. and his father, Aaron Scott Young Sr., also have been charged with conspiring to murder Robinson.
The men were being held at the Beaufort County jail. It was not clear if they have attorneys.
About 100 people gathered Thursday night for a march to stop violence in the community. Sheriff P.J. Tanner announced the charges as the march started, drawing applause from the crowd.
