CHARLOTTE, N.C. --  Two men broke into their next door neighbor’s home in the Elizabeth neighborhood  near uptown Charlotte and stole several items, including a toolbox, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report.

Marcus Shane Humphries, 31, and Sohrab King, 36, were arrested after police say they broke into a home in the 200 block of Wyanoke Avenue near Presbyterian Hospital around 3 a.m. on October 4.

The victim told police he arrived to find the front door open and several items had been stolen, including a distinctive toolbox.

“The victim also stated he observed two men walking down 7th street with a similar toolbox to the one that was stolen from his residence,” CMPD said in the report.  “Officers located the suspects, who live directly across the street from the victim.”

Both Humphries and King were charged with breaking and entering with force, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

“Officers also recovered property stolen from the victim’s residence in the woods directly behind the suspects' home a short time later,” police said.
