GARNER, N.C. (AP) -- Two teenagers are charged with murder in the deaths of a husband and wife who were killed in their home near Garner earlier this month.
Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison said the 16-year-old and 15-year-old were arrested Wednesday. Each is charged with two counts of murder, felony conspiracy, first-degree burglary and possession of stolen property. The 16-year-old faces an additional charge of possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
The bodies of Jose Samuel Flores Mendoza and Maria Saravia Mendoza were found early Jan. 5 at their home. Both were 34.
Harrison says investigators haven't ruled out the possibility that the shootings were gang-related.
The couple's 3-year-old boy was home at the time of the attack and was not harmed. Their 12-year-old was not present.
