GRANITE FALLS, N.C. – Police in Granite Falls say they’ve arrested two men and are still searching for a third suspect in three separate chases last month.
The most recent chase took place on January 21 and reached speeds of 80 miles per hour. Officers briefly lost sight of a 1995 Honda Civic in Hildebran after a 27-mile chase.
“After a search of the area, officers located the vehicle unoccupied. The vehicle was stolen from Caldwell County,” said the police department in a statement.
That chase remains under investigation, but two other incidents have led to arrests.
Gene Lee Greer Jr., 30, of Lenoir was arrested after a chase in the early morning hours on January 3.
After a pursuit, the 1993 Mazda crashed on Myers Road near Granada Farms. Green was charged with DUI and fleeing to elude, among other charges.
The third chase took place around 2:30 p.m. on January 19 when 44-year-old James Walter Dunn of Granite Falls allegedly tried to flee officers.
Dunn was driving a stolen 1998 Cadillac with a stolen license plate, police say, and became stuck in the mud during the chase on Grannyville Lane.
Dunn was placed behind bars on a $30,000 bond and charged with fleeing to elude arrest, possession of stolen goods, and numerous other charges.
