ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. -- The Alexander County Sheriff's Office arrested three people in connection with recent scrap metal thefts.

Authorities in Alexander County followed up on a Crime Stoppers tip related to recent scrap metal thefts in the county. The tip led officers to a home in Catawba County.

Arrested were 47-year-old Nathaniel Wilson, 45-year-old Mary White and 75-year-old Junior Bumgarner.

All three suspects are charged with two counts of misdemeanor larceny as well as one count each of felony larceny.

Detectives are still investigating other larcenies in the area, and say more charges are expected.
