ANSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Three inmates from the Lanesboro Correctional Institute have been indicted by an Anson County grand jury for the murder of another inmate.
Joel Coto Ortiz, Julio Alberto Zelaya-Sorto and Gregoria Cortez Vazquez are charged with first degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
All three suspects are accused of killing inmate Wesley Eugene Turner and assaulting Christopher Keith Cook during a fight at the jail on September 28.
Authorities said all three inmates are no longer at Lanesboro and will be brought to Anson County to have the indictments served on them.
The Anson County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigations conducted the investigation.
