FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Warrants are out for three men in connection with the beating of a worker at a Cumberland County bar.
Detectives say 25-year old Robert Matthews was working the door of the bar in Spring Lake on Jan. 14 when five men entered. Spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said that when Matthews approached one of the men over stealing balls from a pool table, the man ignored him, Moments later, the attack began.
Tanna said Matthews was beaten on the back of his head with a pool stick until he was unconscious, and that his attackers punched and kicked him as he lay on the floor.
A warrant was issued for 41-year old Travis Jake Cockman of Lillington on a charge of attempted first-degree murder. Two accomplices are being sought as accessories.
