ANSON COUNTY, -- An Anson County prison could remain on lockdown until at least Monday after an inmate was fatally stabbed during a fight at the facility.

No charges have been filed yet in connection with the Friday altercation at Lanesboro Correctional Institution in Polkton, said Pamela Walker, spokeswoman for the N.C. Department of Public Safety.

Authorities said a fight broke out between inmates around 12:20 p.m. Friday in a pod at Lanesboro, a high-security correctional facility about 45 miles east of Charlotte.

Wesley Turner, 35, who had served time for several offenses, including second-degree murder, died after he was stabbed. A second inmate, whose name was not released, was injured and taken to a Charlotte hospital.
