CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte man was convicted Thursday in connection with an armed robbery of a woman at an ATM in south Charlotte.
Darian Price, 24, pleaded guilty Thursday of robbing a 54-year-old woman while at an ATM at the Arboretum Shopping Plaza in 2011.
The Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Crimes Against Persons team says Price entered a guilty plea to avoid trial on the charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Authorities say Price approached the victim around 9 p.m. on September 27, 2011, while she was at a drive-up ATM at the Arboretum. Price pulled a gun on the woman while she sat in her car, took about $20 in cash and demanded the woman's cellphone before fleeing, officials say.
Price was sentenced to serve 59 to 80 months in prison, and was ordered to pay $160 in restitution to the victim.
Price was identified by a Crime Stoppers caller who recognized him from surveillance photos shown on a news report.
