GASTONIA, N.C. -- Gastonia Police are investigating a home invasion on Midway Drive that happened Sunday while the elderly homeowners were away at church.

The burglar stole guns, jewelry and a thousand dollars in cash.

Clarence Gordon says he had been saving up the money for his grandson over the past seven months.

“I was going to give it to my grandson because he's getting married September 20,” said Gordon.

Approximately $3,000 worth of items was stolen, according to the Gastonia Police report.

The burglar kicked in the front door and appeared to get most of the items from the master bedroom.

“I work too hard for this stuff,” said Gordon.
