CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested three people in connection with an armed robbery early Monday morning.
About 12:45, police say two victims were robbed at gunpoint by two men in the 9200 block of Baybrook Lane. During the robbery, officials say one of the suspects fired a shotgun into the air, before fleeing the area in a maroon Mitsubishi.
A little more than an hour later, another victim was robbed at gunpoint by two men in the 10300 block of Salvia Street while she was exiting her vehicle. Again, police say a shotgun was discharged into the air during the robbery.
Investigators gathered suspect and vehicle descriptions from the victims, then solicited assistance from area law enforcement agencies in the identification process. The York County Sheriff's Office was able to assist in the identification of one of the suspects.
Further evidence led detectives to identify 32-year-old Jennifer Melton, 25-year-old Mitchell Treible and 37-year-old John Bowlin as their suspects.
All three were arrested without incident Tuesday, and booked in to the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Police say the investigation revealed the suspects were also involved in other crimes throughout Charlotte and York County, for which warrants were also issued.
In connection with the two armed robberies, all three suspects were charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Additional charges are possible, police say.
