CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man wanted in connection with a convenience store robbery in which one person was shot seven times has been arrested.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team arrested 21-year-old Gerico Dontae Alexander Wednesday in the 100 block of Beatties Ford Road.
Authorities say Alexander is responsible for two armed robberies in Charlotte. The first, an early-November armed robbery of a convenience store on Little Rock Road. In this case, authorities say Alexander shot a 35-year-old victim seven times. The victim survived.
A relative told NBC Charlotte in a previous report that Alexander shooting the victim was a "betrayal of trust", as the victim practically raised Alexander.
The second robbery in which Alexander is accused is the late-October armed robbery of a Circle K convenience store, also located on Little Rock Road.
Alexander is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder.
