CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say the victim in a west Charlotte shooting on Friday succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.
Officers were called out to Kentucky Avenue near Centre Street, just off of Brookshire Boulevard, around 8:30 Friday night and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim, 21-year-old Shawn Love, was taken to CMC Main with life threatening injuries. After surviving the weekend, officials say Love succumbed to his injuries on Monday, just a day before his twenty-second birthday.
A second victim, who has not been identified, took himself to CMC Main for treatment of his non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Authorities say it appears Love and the second victim were involved in an exchange of gunfire with several other male subjects when they were shot.
The investigation into the shooting continues, and authorities ask anyone with information to please give them a call at (704) 432-TIPS (8477).
