CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a series of cell phone store break-ins. The first store was hit Sunday.

The stores are Cellular Center and Fashion on Deherradora Avenue, Verizon in the 7200 block of Independence, T-Mobile in the 900 block of Albemarle Road, T-Mobile on North Sardis, and AT&T in the 7500 block of Pineville-Matthews Road.

Police are trying to determine if any of the cases are linked. They are also comparing notes with investigators from Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Tega Cay and Lake Wylie.

All of those cities had cell phone stores that were broken into early Thursday morning, and investigators want to know if the same people are responsible for all the cases.

Police say the suspects used a rock or a brick to smash in a window or glass door and then go in and steal thousands of dollars worth of cell phones.

Rock Hill Police got video of the suspects from a security camera; there’s been no word if it’s been of any assistance in their investigation.
