CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools teacher has been charged with felony indecent liberties with a child.
Clyde Bernard Valentine, 59, is a teacher at Phillip O. Berry High School. Valentine, who is listed on the school's website as a technology teacher, was arrested Tuesday night after an investigation began several weeks ago.
Officials believe the victim is a relative and say the alleged incidents did not occur on school grounds.
He was placed behind bars on a $30,000 bond.
Tuesday is the high school's graduation day.
Valentine has been at Phillip O. Berry since March of 2002, and began his tenure at CMS in January of 2001 at Vance High School.
Officials said Valentine was placed on administrative leave from the district.
