LENOIR, N.C. -- Authorities have arrested a woman in connection with a body found just outside the city limits of Lenoir on Thursday afternoon.
Lenoir Police responded to a report of a possible shooting in the 1100 block of Tara Place in the 4 o'clock hour. When officers arrived on scene, the body 20-year-old Dylan Joseph Short, of Hudson, was located at the residence.
Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that the crime scene was located inside the county's jurisdiction, and the case was turned over to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's investigators, assisted by the NC State Bureau of Investigation, worked the scene late into the night for leads and evidence.
Officials developed 57-year-old Nancy Benge Austin as the suspect in the case. She's charged with murder, and is being held in the Caldwell County Detention Center under no bond/
The Sheriff's Office did not comment on a motive or nature of the relationship between the victim and the suspect.
