CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte woman accused of riding around in a stolen car for months has been arrested.

Davidson County’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit stopped the driver James Thornton and passenger Princess Houghton Thursday on I-85 South in Lexington.

Officers say they stopped the 2013 Nissan Altima for traffic violations.

Thornton was released from Rockingham County Jail earlier in the day. He was issued a citation for driving with a revoked license.

Police say Houghton has been in possession of the car, with Maryland plates, since April. That’s also when the owner it was reported stolen.

Houghton was booked in the Davidson County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
