SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Investigators say a 74-year-old man already in jail on an assault charge has confessed to the shooting death of another man in Spartanburg County earlier this year.
Deputies said Bobby Pruitt was charged with murder Friday after his admission.
Authorities say Pruitt shot 39-year-old Fred Ramsey. His body was found in woods in Campobello by a jogger in April.
Deputies say Pruitt was a suspect in Ramsey's killing, but they didn't have enough evidence until he talked to investigators.
Pruitt has been in jail since September, when authorities say he tried to run over a man who once dated his girlfriend and chased him around a church parking lot with a knife.
It wasn't known if Pruitt had an attorney.
