CORNELIUS, N.C. -- A bank robbery led to a chase in Cornelius Tuesday morning.

Authorities say two suspects, 29-year-old Tamir Dion Simmons, and 19-year-old Donovan Roy Walters, both of Charlotte, robbed a Bank of America branch on West Catawba Street around 9:45 a.m.

Cornelius Police say Simmons and Walters jumped the counter inside the bank, stole money, and fled the scene in a silver Camaro with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Witnesses called in a description of the vehicle, and stated the Camaro was driving erratically.

CMPD and Huntersville Police assisted Cornelius PD in locating the suspects near Long Creek Elementary School after fleeing the vehicle on foot.

There were no reported injuries during the robbery.

Both Simmons and Walters are charged with one count each of common law robbery, conspiracy and felony possession of stolen goods.
