MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina authorities are investigating the death of a woman found dead of injuries consistent with being hit by a motor vehicle.
The Myrtle Beach Sun News reported (http://bit.ly/YBD9Mc) that the body of 57-year-old Rebecca Reaves was found Saturday morning near the intersection of Harper Road and U.S. 701 South.
Horry County Deputy Darris Fowler said an autopsy later determined Reaves died from multiple traumas sustained from being struck by vehicle.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is characterizing the incident, which occurred about 7 a.m., as a hit-and-run fatality. The death is being investigated by the Horry County Police Department and the SCHP.
