CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- It's hard to believe, but crooks may be posing as Salvation Army volunteers in order to rip people off.
The charitable group released a warning on Wednesday that you should be on the lookout for "bell-ringer impersonators".
Here's a few tips to make sure you're donating to the real charity:
- Look for identification on the bell-ringer
- All Salvation Army bell-ringers wear red aprons with the organization's logo
- The donation "kettle" is on a red stand with a lock
