CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A routine speed check turned into a chase and crash in east Charlotte overnight.
Troopers from the North Carolina Highway Patrol say they were watching for speeders along Independence Boulevard Tuesday morning and clocked one driver going 78 in a 50 zone.
Troopers say that driver didn't stop and sped into a neighborhood off of Wallace Road where she crashed into a telephone pole.
The driver was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Authorities did not release the condition of the suspect.
Troopers didn't say why the woman wouldn't stop for them.
