ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Funeral arrangements have been set for a 9-year-old girl who was shot and killed last Friday in Rock Hill.
The child's paternal grandfather is charged in her death and the death of her paternal grandmother.
On Monday, Mia Rodger's maternal grandfather told NBC Charlotte they wanted justice for Mia. Paul Rodgers wouldn't agree to an on camera interview, but indicated her death came after a long custody dispute involving the girl's maternal grandparents and her father's side of the family. Mia's mother died last year.
On Friday, after a 911 hang-up call, York County deputies discovered Rodgers and Gregory shot to death in a home on Idlewild Drive. Deputies say 67-year-old Ronald Gregory had self-inflicted gunshot wounds, but was transported to Piedmont Medical Center where he's being treated while under the sheriff's custody.
Ronald Gregory faces two murder charges.
On Monday, grief counselors were made available at Mt. Gallant Elementary School, where Mia was a fourth-grade student.
Mia’s visitation will be held Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill. Visitation for the child's grandmother, Barbara Gregory, will be held at the same time and place. Mia’s funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Gregory's funeral service is scheduled for Friday 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
