INDIAN TRIAL, N.C. -- Several federal agents raided a home in Indian Trail Thursday afternoon during a multi-state fraud and money laundering investigation.

Federal agents went inside a home in a subdivision along Crismark Drive near Mill Grove Road in Union County.

Igor Borodin, 26, was arrested and agents with the Homeland Security Investigation were called to the scene.

Authorities removed items from the home and placed them in boxes outside on the driveway.  Sources told NewsChannel 36 a secret room was in the home that was designed to look like a garage but kept counterfeit automobile parts.

“They moved in two or three months ago.  They just finished building the house,” said neighbor Coy Gillenwater.  “You kind of just wonder…how well do you really know your neighbors?”

Agents told NewsChannel 36 the investigation spans across South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.

"I was surprised because they seemed to be just a regular family that we saw on weekends going to church," said neighbor Fabrio Cardoso.
