CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A convicted felon wanted by police after removing his electronic monitoring device has been found.

Robert Pernell Sowell, 21, was convicted of felony larceny in 2012.

A court ordered Sowell to wear a monitoring device as part of a condition of his recent probation.

Police say he took off the device on Monday and was last known to be in the 3300 block of Sam Drenan Road.

Officers found him at a hotel on East Independence Road on Thursday morning.
