CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student, according to police.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police charged 50-year-old George Mobley with sexual activity by school personnel, indecent liberties with a minor and providing alcohol to a minor.
The victim reported that she had met Mobley several years ago when he was a volunteer coach at her middle school. Police said during the course of a friendship that lasted several years, they had engaged in sexual contact.
Mobley also gave the victim an alcoholic beverage to drink during one of their encounters, police said.
Mobley was interviewed by detectives and admitted to engaging in sexual activity while the victim was a student and he was a coach.
Mobley turned himself in at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday evening. Mobley is no longer employed by CMS.
There is currently no information that leads detectives to believe any further indecent liberties with children have occurred, police said.
