ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. -- Authorities in Rowan County have arrested a man wanted in connection to the shooting of a volunteer firefighter.
Authorities arrested Tramel Devon Hart in connection to the shooting of Marcus Kauffman. Hart is the fourth person arrested in this case.
Police arrested 19-year-old Jaylend Daquann Turner and 25-year-old Michael Dwayne Teasley on Friday. Turner and Teasley made their first court appearances on Monday.
Monday afternoon, authorities told NBC Charlotte that 23-year-old Khari McClelland was taken into custody in the Newton-Conover area.
The Rowan County Sheriff's Office says McClelland shot Kauffman in the head at his home on Chenault Road in the small town of Cleveland.
Investigators say the victim, Kauffman, arrived home from vacation with his wife to find the suspects stealing from their home.
Hart is charged with accessory after the fact and is being held under a $500,000 bond.
Gun recovered in robbery
Rowan County authorities also located a handgun that was stolen during the robbery.
The weapon was recovered at a house in Iredell County yesterday.
The recovered weapon will be submitted to the lab for testing to determine if this is the weapon that was used to shoot Marcus Kauffman, but results will take some time before it comes back to our office.
