CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said an 11-year-old girl made up a story about being assaulted after she got off her bus in south Charlotte on Thursday.
Police said the girl told them she was getting off her bus around 4 p.m. on Robinson Forest Drive when someone approached her and assaulted her.
The girl, who attends Community House Middle School in the Ballantyne area, was taken to a local hospital after the incident.
Police spent several hours questioning the 11-year-old before she admitted that she made the whole story up.
The principal at Community House sent out a letter to parents about this incident early Friday morning.
