CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (AP) -- The jail administrator and assistant county manager in Chesterfield County indicted this week on misconduct in office charges have been suspended without pay.
Interim County Administrator Denise Douglass said Friday that the county made the decision after learning about charges filed against jail director Ritchie Rollings and Harold Hainey, who now runs the county's Emergency Management department.
Prosecutors say both men used a state inmate on loan to the county to do work on their personal property while they were sheriff's office employees.
Sheriff Sam Parker was indicted in March on six similar charges.
Rollings and Hainey didn't want to talk about the charges against them at their bond hearing Thursday. They were released on their own recognizance.
