MONROE, N.C. – Police have arrested a man they say fired shots at a Monroe Police Officer.

The incident happened Sunday around 12:49 a.m.  Officials say Officer Robert Hall was on patrol when he heard a single gunshot and witnessed a Ford Mustang speed away from the area.

The Mustang ended up crashing into a sign at Willow Glen Apartments. According to authorities,  the driver and passenger jumped from the vehicle and ran.

As Officer Hall chased the passenger, 22-year-old Brandon Alarcon, he turned and fired at Hall.  Alarcon was later arrested; his bond was set at $350,000.

He is now facing an assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.
