CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. – A man is behind bars after a Saturday night shooting in Caldwell County, but a motive behind the incident is unclear.

Officers arrived at 1717 Rattlesnake Lane in the Valmead neighborhood at 10:40 p.m. and found Mark Sheldon Gentry had been shot in his right leg, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office

Investigators developed a suspect after talking to witnesses and on Sunday found and arrested 28-year-old Marshall Franklin III.

Gentry was transferred to Caldwell Memorial Hospital and is expected to survive.  Franklin, meanwhile, was placed under a $9,000 bond and was due in court Monday.
