CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. -- An argument between two men turned deadly Saturday evening in Cabarrus County.

The Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a man shot in the 9600 block of Seymour Lane just before 6:30 p.m.

Once on the scene, first responders confirmed that a middle-aged man had been shot in the chest. The man,  47-year-old Edward Lynn Putt, was taken to Northeast Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Alan Pressley, 50, of Concord, and Putt man were arguing. The argument escalated, and police say early indications are that Pressley fired the shot that killed Putt.

Pressley is charged with voluntary man slaughter and carrying a concealed firearm. His bond is set at $250,000.

Authorities say alcohol was involved in the incident.
