CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police took a man into custody after he led police on a chase through north Charlotte Thursday morning.
The chase started around 9:30 a.m. after police say 20-year-old Marcus Jamarr James refused to pull over the stolen Jeep he was driving.
Both CMPD and the North Carolina Highway Patrol were involved in the chase. James led authorities through the Tryon Hills neighborhood several times during the incident.
Authorities chased him to 31st and North Church streets before he wrecked the Jeep and tried to run. The chase began at Newland Road toward LaSalle Street.
Officers were able to take James into custody about 10 minutes after the chase began.
A highway patrol cruiser and another car collided during the chase, but no one was injured during the incident, authorities said.
The driver who collided with the officer was making an illegal u-turn and was also driving with both a suspended license and license plates, police said.
