CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man led authorities on a  short pursuit near uptown before crashing early Wednesday morning.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said a man in a white Pontiac Grand Prix was originally pulled over for speeding, but he took off and crashed into a light pole on Graham Street.

Troopers charged Jackie Dawayne Jones felony speeding and DWI.

A patrol car was damaged during the pursuit, but no one was injured.

Authorities believe alcohol was involved.

Jones is charged with DUI, felony flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle, felony possession of cocaine, driving while license revoked, speeding and injury to personal property. His bonds total $38,000
