CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) -- Kershaw County deputies are looking for a man who shot at officers trying to arrest him during a traffic stop.
Sheriff Jim Matthews said 25-year-old Earnest Allen was wanted for an incident in October in which he jumped out of a car he was driving when deputies tried to stop it, letting the vehicle crash with a woman and child inside.
Matthews said his deputies tried to arrest Allen on Thursday night when he got out of a van he was riding in and fired several times. No one was injured, but Allen was able to run away and elude police dogs and officers.
The sheriff says Allen has a long criminal record and his behavior is getting more dangerous every time police deal with him.
