CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for 3 men who robbed and sexually assaulted a woman in her motel room.
The incident occurred early Monday morning at the Microtel Inn on Queen City Dr in West Charlotte.
"There was a meeting at the hotel of some type between one of the suspects and the victim. After the consensual meeting the sexual assault and robbery occurred," said Capt. Michelle Hummel of CMPD'S Sexual Assault Unit.
Police say the woman was beaten up, her money stolen and her car taken.
"While investigators don't have much information about the suspects, they know what they look like thanks to some excellent surveillance pictures taken at the motel.
"Were very hopeful that because of the pictures, and them being very good and clear, if somebody knows them they’re going to be able to give us some information," said Hummel.
Investigators are trying to determine if the suspects have committed other robberies. For now they have little to no information on them.
"The important part of this is we’re not sure if they are local. They could be from another area. That's why we’re hoping, by putting it out on the media, we'll get a bigger reach," said the captain.
Police have recovered the stolen rental car, but didn't find anything that would help them identify the suspects.
