MONROE, N.C. -- A Monroe woman has been charged in connection with the stabbing death of a 36-year-old man.

Tuesday afternoon, Monroe Police responded to a 911 hang-up call from the 2600 block of Lancelot Drive in Monroe.

When officers arrived on scene, they found evidence of an altercation. They later learned of a victim with a stab wound to his upper chest receiving treatment at CMC Union.

The victim, 36-year-old William Tyrone Sturdivant, was airlifted to CMC Main where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators arrested 26-year-old Katondra Chantel Tillman for Sturdivant's murder.  Officers said she drove Sturdivant to the hospital after stabbing him with an 8-10 inch kitchen knife.

Tillman is being held in the Union County Jail without bond. Her court date is set for May 14.
